You can reach many summits without too much effort using the mountain railways - the Reiterkogelbahn railway is just a 2-minute walk away from the Dorfschmiede. Once at the top, you can enjoy spectacular panoramic hikes of varying difficulties, or even take your mountain bike down towards the valley… the snow-covered glacial Hohe Tauern to the south, and the limestone Alps to the north provide the spectacular backdrop for your mountain adventures.

Biking paradise on Earth for ambitious cyclists!

Only the Saalbach Hinterglemm bike circus has as many breathtaking routes of all difficulty levels - for cross-country, soulrider, freerider and downhill fans. Maximum freeride feeling is created on the BIG 5 BIKE Challenge with a 1,000 metre height difference on the way up, and 4,000 metres on the way down. Whether it’s marathon routes, challenging single trails or freeride routes, such as Europe’s longest freeride route, the 6 km X line on the Schattberg: ambitious mountain bikers and wannabes alike are bound to find the perfect conditions. Countless bike courses and guided tours, as well as bike shops, let you improve your technique and keep your equipment up to date. The bike-friendly local infrastructure also includes various workshops, bike washing stations and exciting bike events.

If you fancy a spot of tennis on your holiday, you can find 3 indoor courts and 3 outdoor sand courts at the Hinterglemm sports centre to brush up on your game. As a guest of the 4* Hotel Zur Dorfschmiede, you don’t even have to pay the court rental fee (Joker Card). The tennis school in Saalbach-Hinterglemm also offers classes for all levels. Fancy a match but in need of a tennis partner? Not a problem, simply book a partner session with a trainer. You can also find another tennis court in Saalbach (Kreuzkapelle Tennis Courts) that you can use for free with your Joker Card.

Discover a varied bathing and water paradise
Not even a half hour away from the Dorfschmiede is the bathing paradise that is Lake Zeller See, complete with lidos & boat rental, water sports and boat tours as well as fantastic views of the Kitzsteinhorn and the surrounding Alps. The lake’s crystal clear water is good enough to drink, and is ideal for bathing and swimming as well as pedal boats, sailing, surfing, water skiing… or just making yourself comfy as a passenger on a panorama boat and simply enjoying the breathtaking landscape from there. If cooling off in the sea is not enough: the glacier on the Kitzsteinhorn provides ideal conditions for glacial skiing and fun in the snow at any time of year.

Just a 30-minute drive from the Dorfschmiede is the largest golf course in the Austrian Alps. As a member of ‘Leading Golf Courses’, the two 18-hole courses ‘Schmittenhöhe’ and ‘Kitzsteinhorn’ in Zell am See - Kaprun offer everything a golfer could wish for. The park-like grounds of the two courses stand out with their natural foliage, excellent greens and challenging fairways. Surrounded by the unique mountain backdrop of the Hohen Tauern, golf in Zell am See becomes an impressive experience that ideally combines enchanting nature with a varied and challenging game. On this 3D golf course, you can play courses all over the world, at any time of year and in any weather. Adrenaline highlights in Saalbach Hinterglemm

SAALBACH HINTERGLEMM HIGH-ROPES COURSE 
The high-ropes course in Saalbach Hinterglemm is Austria’s largest and boasts Europe’s longest zip wire, letting you fly through the Glemmtal Valley at up to 80 km per hour. 200 different stations, 30 zip wires and 10 climbing courses at various levels from 3 to 40 metres high offer plenty of diversity for various skill levels. Safety is the priority at this high-ropes course: the whole facility is TÜV approved and every visitor is doubly secured by a mutual locking safety system. You should plan in at least three hours for your visit to the high-ropes course. Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.

GLEMMTAL VALLEY BAUMZIPFELWEG PATH with ‘GOLDEN GATE BRÜCKE’
Made from solid larch wood, the Baumzipfelweg tree-top path is Europe’s highest of its kind - perfect for all high climbers who’d rather feel solid ground beneath their feet. The ‘Golden Gate Bridge of the Alps’ is a real highlight. A fantastic natural experience for any age group that takes you up to 40 metres up. There’s also a low ropes course at ground level for families with children.

WHITE WATER RAFTING
It’s important to stay on course when rafting amid the bubbling spay of the Saalach - but that’s easier said than done in a dinghy. Tours are available for families with children from the age of 12.

CANYONING
At the Glemmtal Valley head, you’ll find a unique canyoning course near the high-ropes course. It’s ideal for jumping, sliding, crossing and abseiling, as well as canyoning tours of varying skill levels. Small groups are well-secured and accompanied by a guide through the canyons of the Saalach, whose green pools and cascading waterfalls offer the perfect backdrop for your canyoning tour.
